Practice punctuality not only when signing in, but more importantly when submitting reports and doing assigned tasks. Never be late.

3. Create a social life in your workplace.
Make friends with everybody, not just to those near your cubicle. You can easily get the latest news, gossip, and other helpful information that can help you achieve your career goals. This also makes an image of you being an effective team-player.

You may not be sitting on the most comfortable chair, but still perform the best that you can. Working under such conditions and still making accomplishments are a big plus during your evaluation.
5. Make friends with your boss.
This is no form of conspiracy, but being friends with your boss is probably the best way to get promoted. Ask him questions, make suggestions. He would easily see that you're highly dependable and that you have the heart to lead the company to success.
