Ah, jealousy. Above any thing else, this is the green-eyed monster that can destroy relationships. So it's important that you don't let it rear its ugly head and if it does, you must slay that monster quickly.

Everyone who has ever been in a relationship has experienced jealousy at one time or another. This tends to come up when someone feels threatened. Have you ever been out with your girlfriend another guy starts to flirt with her Or how about when an ex-boyfriend calls her out of the blue These things can really start our wheels turning.

If your own insecurity makes you think poorly of yourself, you often begin to wonder what she sees in you. You will start to question why she would want to stay with you and it may even start you down an even worse path. You may think that she is looking for someone "better". In order to combat this, you must be secure with yourself. You must understand that you aren't perfect, but she is with you for a reason. She may see things in you that you do not. It is important that you have good self-esteem if you want to fight insecurity in your relationship.

Jealousy and insecurity can cause detachment. It can make you act stupid even if your partner has done nothing wrong. In fact, many bar fights start this very way. People have a few drinks and someone looks at your girl the wrong way. Please, don't be that guy.

In order for you to tame jealousy in the relationship it is important that you feel secure. Remember that other guys' attention merely proves how desirable your girlfriend is. This should make you feel good about yourself and the relationship.

And if she has seemed jealous or insecure, do something to reassure her. Tell her you love her and that you understand how she feels. Let her know that she has nothing to worry about when it comes to you.

After you have communicated your feelings to her, both of you will better understand where you sit on the jealousy and insecurity issues. You will both be reassured that you are with each other because you love each other and not just because you are waiting for someone "better" to come along. If you follow this advice, the green-eyed monster will never be able to get the best of you.
